I am writing this tribute with painful tears of sorrow over the unimaginable loss of my dependable teacher, mentor, colleague, father, benefactor, friend and supporter, Prof Haruna Wakili. Until his body was interred on 21 June 2020, I was still hopeful that he would somehow miraculously resurface.  He fought one the bravest cancer battles I’ve seen. Until his demise he was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (administration) at Bayero University, Kano.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Nigeria on 27th February 2020, when an Italian citizen in Lagos tested positive for the virus, Bayero University has risen to the challenge of being a strategic partner of both the federal government Kano State Government and other concerned stake holders.
