The university was initially established in 1964 as a humanity-based institution (Abdullahi Bayero College) with only ten students (awarded Ahmadu Bello University degrees), it changed into Bayero University in 1976 awarding its own degrees. Join us in BUK to study the course of your choice. There are about thirty four thousand undergraduate students enrolled currently in the university. Several courses offered with different durations say four, five years and more.

Bayero University, Kano has conferred Honourary Doctorate Degrees on the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin and President of African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina.

The conferment of the duo which took place on Saturday 2nd March, 2024 at the grand finale of the 38th Convocation Ceremony, was in recognition to their outstanding contributions to the education and the country in general.

Day 3 of BUK’s 38th Convocation: 3,748 Graduated from 7 Faculties , as Dangote Sets to Deliver Lecture Friday

Day 3 of BUK Convocation

Bayero University graduated a total 3, 748 students who were found to be worthy in character and learning for the conferment of degrees at the third day of the 38th Convocation Ceremony held on Thursday, 29th February, 2024.

The graduands were from the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences (400), Communication (309),Engineering (569), Life Sciences (595), Management Sciences (490) and Social Sciences (662).

Day 2 of 38th Convocation: BUK Graduates 3, 739

38th Convocation Ceremony

Bayero University graduated a total of 3, 739 students from four Faculties and one School as the 38th Convocation ceremonies entered day 2 on Wednesday, 28th February, 2024.

The Faculties were Allied Health Sciences (312), Clinical Sciences (116), Computing (289) and Dentistry (15), while School of Continuing Education (SCE) had the largest number with 3,007 graduands.
