The General Studies Unit (formerly known as the School of General Studies) was established early in the history of the University. Its primary mandate has evolved over the years, but presently it organizes and conducts the General Studies Programme (GSP). The aim of GSP is to train undergraduates to acquire basic knowledge of various disciplines besides their areas of specialization. The programme is tailored towards producing graduates with broad based knowledge who would be capable of dealing with moral, cultural, political, economic, social, scientific and technological and other issues confronting society.
The Unit has now been re-named to School of General Studies and Entrepreneurship.
