Acting Director

Umar Sani Hanga

The Centre for Information Technology (CIT) has the mandate of providing computing and other IT related services to the University community, including; provision and maintenance of internet services, development and administration of university websites, development and promotion of softwares/applications for use by different units of the university, maintenance of ICT infrastructures, provision of ICT consultancy services and other computing needs for the university community. The CIT is also involved in conducting cutting edge researches and pursuing excellence through innovation, creations and provision of ICT knowledge.

CIT Divisions

The CIT seek to fulfil its mandate through the activities or services of the following units.

Network Administrative Unit (NA)

Network redesign, Segmentation, Server Room operations, Radio installation, routine monitoring and Rapid response, issuance of the Official University email services, VOIP, Intranet and Bandwidth management.
Maintenance Services and Support Unit (MSS)

System maintenance, Routine training of staff and students, SIWES student training, establishment of learning centres, IT recreation centres for staff wards, Cannibalization of broken down systems.
Information Services and Web Development Unit (ISWD)

Continuous improvement of the university web site, the development and full deployment of the myBUK Project application which consists of the personnel payroll, human resources management system, student application portal, Transcript generation, admissions etc.
Software Development Unit (SD)

The software development unit are training the Staff and Student on the use of Moodle and also Serves as the secretariat to myBUK Project which is responsible for developing both Post UTME portal, Direct Entry Portal,Online Application Portal (For Postgraduate School, Dangote Business School and School of Continuing Education), Online Registration Portal (For DEAR, School of Continuing Education, Dangote Business School and Postgraduate School), Staff Audit Application (For Directorate of Establishment Matters), Hostel Management (For Student Affairs), Online Screening (For DEAR and School of Continuing Education), Graduation Gown Management and Result Processing Engine.
Research Unit

The mandates of the unit includes the following: • Conducting ICT related researches • Research management and administration • Creation and coordination of research groups within the Centre. • Stimulate inter-disciplinary and inter-departmental research within the university. • Establish ICT related research collaboration with internal and external research Centers. • Securing internal and external research grants • Patenting of products • Organising research related seminars and workshops in the Centre.
