Phd in Islamic Banking And Finance

Ph. D in Islamic Banking and Finance (PIBF) is aimed at producing scholars, researchers and personnel who are well-versatile in the principles and concepts of Islamic banking and finance through providing comprehensive education and rigorous training for practitioners in the banking and finance industry and other academic and research institutions to be conversant with all aspects of the operations of Islamic banking. The programme is available on part time and full time basis.

Objectives

  1. To produce scholars and researchers of international standing in Islamic banking and finance.
  2. To further develop and enhance the theory and practice of Islamic banking and finance.
  3. To meet the demand for experts in Islamic banking and finance industry in Nigeria and worldwide.

Programme Description

A candidate is expected to pass all the eight courses of 3 credit hours each, for a total of 24 credit hours plus a Thesis that is equivalent to 20 credit hours. The first four courses below (PIBF 9301-9304) require presentation of seminar papers, as part of their continuous assessment, while the last two (PIBF 9307 & 9308) are about development and presentation of high quality Seminar papers in the area of research chosen by a student.

Duration of Study
Full-Time – (Minimum: 3 years or 6 semesters, Maximum: 5 years or 10 semesters)
Part-Time – (Minimum: 5 years or 10 semesters, Maximum: 7 years or 14 semesters)

Admission Requirements

  1. A good M. Sc Degree in Islamic Banking and Finance (CGPA: 3.5 or above) obtained from Bayero University or any other recognized institution in the world.
  2. A good M. Phil in Islamic Banking and Finance (CGPA: 3.5 or above) obtained from any recognized institution in the world.
  3. Any other qualification deemed equivalent to the above
