BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES

The minimum duration of the programme is ¦ve academic sessions (10 semesters) for candidates admitted into Level 100 with Senior Secondary School Certi¦cate or GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent qualifications. Candidates admitted under Direct Entry (Level 200), will spend a minimum of four academic sessions (8 semesters) provided that they satisfy all the other University requirements. The maximum duration is 14 semesters for Level 100 candidates and 12 semesters for Level 200 candidates.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING PROGRAMME

This program is essentially a bridging/conversion course for Engineers and Scientists to enhance their competence and enable them practice their various fields at the highest level and to provide further academic preparations for those who may wish to bene¦t from other postgraduate degree program. The post-graduate program leading to the award of Post Graduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (PGDME) consists of course of instruction and a project. The duration of the programme is two academic calendar years.

MASTER OF ENGINEERING PROGRAMME

The M.Eng Programme is designed to ful¦l the need for well qualified graduates in Mechanical Engineering areas and to provide the much needed manpower for research and development in the industries, higher institutions and research centres. The duration of advanced coursework and research for the degree of Master of Engineering is a minimum of three Semesters and a maximum of four Semesters for full time students.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMME

The Mechanical Engineering Department offers postgraduate research leading to the award of Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) in one of the areas of Applied Mechanics, Design and Production Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering and Thermo-Fluids.

• For full time students, the duration of advanced coursework and research for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy is a minimum of Six Semesters and a maximum of Ten Semesters.

• For part-time students, however, the duration is a minimum of Eight Semesters and a maximum of Fourteen Semesters.
