The Nigeria Centre for Reading Research and Development (NCRRD) was established in October 2017 as a collaborative project between Bayero University, Kano (BUK) and Florida State University (FSU), Tallahassee, in the United States of America.

Mission
To respond to the reading research and development needs of early grade level, and other levels through relevant high-level human capacity development and demand-driven research contributing towards improving reading skills and development in Africa
Vision
To be a leading Centre in reading research and development, renowned for excellence in teaching, research and development of reading skills.
Purpose of Research Agenda
To provide strategic direction on the NCRRD research priorities to ensure alignment with the Bayero University research priorities by outlining a clear framework for making decisions about future research activities within the centre and the University at large.

The Centre is managed by a Director and three Deputy Directors (Research, Development &Training and Administration and Partnership). Other management staff of the Centre include eleven (11) research fellows across different disciplines and a Librarian who is manning the resources Centre.
