BUK’s 180 Daily Testing Capacity Lab for Covid-19 Commences Operation

Bayero University’s newly established centre for testing suspicious cases of covid-19 has the capacity to test 180 samples per day which is four times that of the first testing centre in Kano.

The BUK Test Centre commenced operation on Friday, 1st May, 2020 when the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello commissioned it in company of the officials of NCDC, Directors of Centre for Infectious Diseases Research (CIDR), Centre for Biotechnology Research (CBR), Laboratory Management, Provost College of Health Science, staff of the University and the media.

BUK Denies VC, Prof Bello Tests Positive of Coronavirus

Bayero University has denied a purported report circulating in the social media that the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello has tested positive of coronavirus.

In a statement issued by the Secretary, Information and Publication, Malam Lamara Garba, on Saturday, 18th April, 2020 said "our attention has been drawn to fabricated and fake news which alleged that the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello was tested positive of the Coronavirus disease.

NBC Donates Hand Sanitizers, Sanitary Items to BUK FM

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) on Thursday, 9th April, 2020 donated hand sanitizers and other sanitary items to Bayero University Radio FM aimed at taking precautionary measures against the spread of coronavirus which has ravaged the entire world.

The Zonal Director of NBC, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, who presented the items to the Vice Chancellor, said it was part of the NBC’s goodwill gestures to help staff and visitors to sanitize their hands against the spread of covid-19.

Covid-19: BUK’s Vice Chancellor Heads Kano Fund Raising Committee

Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello, has been appointed by the Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the Chairman of Fund Raising Committee for Covid-19 in Kano State.

While inaugurating the committee, Dr. Ganduje said “we chose people who are honest, genuine and people with dexterity in resource management.

BUK Hosts UTME for 112 Visually Impaired Candidates

Bayero University, Kano on Sunday, 22nd March, 2020 hosted Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for 112 candidates from North West, North East and some parts of North Central states of the country.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello, who inspected the conduct of the examination, said JAMB had provided free accommodation and feeding for the candidates and said that “we are grateful for the generosity of the JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede for this initiative.”

BUK Denies Outbreak of Corona Virus

The attention of the Management of Bayero University, Kano has been
drawn to a fake news item making the rounds about the reported case
of Corona Virus in the University.
We wish to state unequivocally clear that, there has never been a case
of Corona virus in the University whatsoever. For the avoidance of
doubt, the University was shut down since Friday, 20 th March, 2020 in
line with the directives by the Federal Ministry of Education and all
students have already vacated the hostel of residence.

COVID-19: BUK Suspends Lectures for One Month

 Following a circular from the Federal Ministry of Education through the National Universities Commission (NUC), aimed at containing and preventing the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19) in Nigeria, to which the Federal Government granted approval for the closure of all schools (including tertiary institutions) for a period of one month effective from Monday, 23rd March, 2020, the Management of Bayero University, Kano considers the health and wellbeing of its students and staff to be of utmost importance.
