Bayero University is set to host the 51st national Conference of Paediatrics organized by the Paediatrics Association of Nigeria (PAN) from 21st to 24th January, 2020.
Receiving the executive council members of PAN in his office, on Monday, 20th January, 2020, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello, said Bayero University was happy to host the 51st conference. He said it would afford the scholars the opportunity to brainstorm and discuss the health challenges facing the children in Nigeria.
The Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA), Bayero University, Kano on Saturday, 18th January, 2020 completed the training of 1400 youth and women from Kano, Kaduna and Kogi states under the World Bank’s project of Agro-Processing Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support Project (APPEALS).
Bayero University, Kano on Thursday, 16th January, 2020 inducted Sixty eight (68) new medical Doctors at the 19th Induction ceremony just five months after graduating thirty nine doctors.
The new doctors comprised forty seven (47) males and twenty one females (21) from the Faculty of Clinical Sciences.
Bayero University has completed arrangement to award fifteen million Naira (N15m) scholarships to three hundred less privileged students who find it difficult to pay the university’s registration fee.
Impressed by the resilience and commitment of Bayero University, Kano to compliment the effort of the federal government in boosting food production in Nigeria, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has indicated strong interest to fund rice production and processing in the University.
Bayero University will be the first university in Nigeria to blaze the trail in rice production and processing in commercial quantity.
Bayero University, Kano is set to provide scholarship to 300 less privileged students in the forthcoming 2019/2020 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello disclosed this while receiving delegates of the BUK Class ’92 alumni on Friday, 27th December, 2019 at the Senate Chamber.
Prof Yahuza Bello, who received a donation of One Million Naira (N1m) for indigent scholarship, described the Class 92’ as one of the most consistent in the University.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Sabo Mohammed Nanono, on Friday, 20th December, 2019 commissioned Bayero University’s multi-million Naira research and training farm at Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA).
The farm, which is 22 hectare and planned for all year round farming, is the biggest and first of its kind in Nigeria’s tertiary education. It is fully equipped with facilities for drip and sprinkler irrigation, fertigation, infield and controlled environment crop production.
Bayero University, Kano’s 54th Congregation Meeting is being held on Saturday, 21st December, 2019 at the Convocation Arena, in which the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello presented the University’s one year scorecard.
The Vice Chancellor told members of the congregation the massive transformations and achievements recorded in the last one year which included the installation of MW Hybrid Solar Plant which is fully operational and that it makes the University to enjoy 24-hour uninterrupted power supply for almost 40 days now.
All is now set for the official commissioning of the training and research farm of Bayero University, Kano in the Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA) by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Sabo Mohammed Nanono. The CDA’s Africa Centre of Excellence Impact Project which it competitively won a $5m World Bank grant will be launched.
Centre for Dryland Africa’s research and training farm is the first of its kind in any Nigerian tertiary institutions.
