Prof. Jega Chairs YMSU’s 1st Convocation Lecture, Says Insecurity, Violation of Rule of Law Threats to Nigeria’s Development

Former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega says Nigeria has all the potentials to develop but the biggest threats are insecurity, violation of rule of law and disregard to ethical conducts.

Professor Jega made the statement during the maiden Convocation Lecture of Yusuf Maitama Sule University held at Hafiz Abubakar Auditorium, Gidan Ado Bayero on Friday, 13th December, 2019, where he served as the chairman of the occasion.

Emir of Kano Commissions BUK’s Ultra-Modern Juma’at Mosque

Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II commissioned Bayero University Kano’s ultra-modern Jumu’at Mosque on Friday, 6th December, 2019.

The Emir also delivered Friday prayer sermon, in which he urged Muslims to fear Allah more and to relate well with their relatives, among other pieces of good advice given.

Florida State University Trains 5 Centres in BUK on Grant Access and Management

Florida State University (FSU), Tallahassee, USA in collaboration with Nigeria Centre for Reading Research and Development (NCRRD), Bayero University, Kano has organized a 2-day workshop on Grant Access and Management.

The workshop was meant to train fellows from various centres of the University on how to access and win research grants from external sources.

BUK Signs MoU to Commence Teaching of Chinese Language

Bayero University, Kano has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chinese Embassy to commence teaching of Chinese language.

Mr. Li Xuda, a Cultural Affairs Officer in the Chinese Embassy, who signed the MoU on behalf of the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria on Friday, 6th December, 2019, said Bayero University has established a reputation that many institutions would be happy to partner with.

BUK Receives PG Accreditation Teams for Accounting and Biz Admin Programmes

Accreditation Teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) visited Bayero University, Kano on Thursday, 28th November, 2019 to evaluate postgraduate programmes in the Departments of Accounting and Business Administration.

The programmes being evaluated are: Masters in Treasury Management, Taxation and Revenue Administration, Accounting and Financial Management (Accounting) and Masters in Management and Business Administration, MBA (Business Administration).

BUK to Host National Mathematical Conference First Time in 28 Years

Bayero University, Kano is set to host the next year’s Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN) Conference tagged Kano 2020 for the first time in 28 years, Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello confirmed this on Friday, 22nd November, 2019, while receiving officials of the association who paid him a courtesy visit as part of the preparations for the conference.

BUK and Saudi based Organization to Establish Heart Centre in Kano

Discussion has commenced between a Saudi-based Non-Governmental Organization, the Physicians Across Continents (PAC) through the King Salman Health Foundation and Bayero University, Kano to establish a Centre for Heart Diseases in Kano in collaboration with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH).

President of Physicians Across Continents (PAC), Dr. Sa’ad Qarni expressed readiness to collaborate with BUK to establish the centre during a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammad Yahuza Bello on Friday, 22nd November, 2019 at Council Chamber.

Graduates of Animal Science Inducted, Tasked to Develop Mechanisms to Address Food Insecurity
