Veterinary Council of Nigeria

The Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) on Tuesday, 29th July, 2025, visited Bayero University, Kano (BUK) to accredit the clinical courses of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, marking another significant step in the faculty’s academic development.

The accreditation team, led by Professor Caleb Ayuba Kudi, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Haruna Musa.

Professor Kudi expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded the team and explained that the Council had earlier conducted resource verification and pre-clinical accreditation. The current exercise, he noted, was focused on clinical courses, which are crucial in preparing veterinary medicine graduates for professional practice. “Veterinary medicine is as rigorous and critical as human medicine. This stage ensures our graduates are fully equipped to serve in the field,” he emphasized.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor assured the team of the University’s full support in ensuring a smooth accreditation process. He encouraged the Council to tour the University’s facilities and witness the remarkable transformation in physical infrastructure and academic resources.

The team was accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Professor A.M. Abdussamad, and is working closely with the Director of Academic Planning, Professor Yusuf Garba, to facilitate the accreditation process.
