Excitement is set to return to Bayero University Kano’s sporting arena as preparations reach top gear for the 18th Interfaculty Games, which promise to be bigger, better, and more competitive. The games will showcase thrilling displays of talent and sportsmanship as male and female athletes from across the University battle for glory while representing their respective faculties.

On Thursday, 31st July 2025, the Director of Sports, Professor Rabiu Mohammed, convened a meeting involving faculty representatives, coaches, staff of the Directorate of Sports, and members of the Sports Consultative Committee to finalize plans for the event. He revealed that this year’s edition of the games would serve as a parting gift to the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, in recognition of his unwavering support for sports development in the University.

Professor Rabiu announced that the Vice-Chancellor had approved the budget for the games and encouraged all stakeholders to contribute their quota to ensure a successful tournament. He added that the competition would also serve as a platform for scouting top-performing athletes who will represent BUK at the forthcoming Nigerian Universities Games Association (NUGA) event scheduled to hold later this year at the University of Jos.

The sports to be contested include: Soccer, Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Tennis, Squash, Badminton, Judo, Taekwondo, Athletics, Hockey, and Scrabble.

Another meeting has been scheduled for 6th August 2025, at 9:00 AM to finalize fixtures and address other preparations for the games.
