The Registrar of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Malam Haruna Aliyu, has received an exclusive invitation from the Times Higher Education (THE) to participate in the 2025 World Academic Summit scheduled for 7–9 October in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia.
In a letter signed by John Gill, Chief Executive Officer of THE, the Registrar was described as a valued participant in the global dialogue on higher education leadership and performance. The summit, to be hosted in partnership with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, will explore the role of universities as active agents of progress and change.
Highlights of the event include the unveiling of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026 and an in-depth masterclass from THE’s data team, offering insights into key findings, emerging trends, and global patterns in higher education. Participants will also engage in case studies, collaborative workshops, and high-level networking sessions designed to shape the next phase of growth for universities worldwide.
The invitation comes as Malam Haruna Aliyu marks his first anniversary in office, a period credited with remarkable administrative reforms and innovations at BUK. His selection to join other global leaders at the summit is seen as recognition of his professional expertise, developmental strides, and contributions to strengthening university administration in Nigeria.
The invitation not only highlights his personal achievements but also projects Bayero University, Kano, positively on the international stage.
