AGM BUKAA 2025

All is set for the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bayero University, Kano Alumni Association (BUKAA), as the executives have concluded preparations for what promises to be a memorable gathering of alumni of the University.

Ahead of the event, the BUKAA leadership, led by its President, Alhaji Shuaibu Idris Mikati, mni, FCIoD, paid a courtesy visit to the Registrar, Malam Haruna Aliyu, on Thursday, 4th September, 2025, to brief him on the line-up of activities.

Alhaji Mikati revealed that the celebration will open with a Grand Dinner on Friday, 5th September, 2025 at the Convocation Arena. The AGM proper will hold on Saturday, 6th September, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., featuring a keynote lecture on Corporate Governance to be delivered by Ambassador Shuaibu Adamu Ahmad. He described the lecture as timely, noting that Ambassador Ahmad is a member of the Federal Government’s Steering Committee tasked with ensuring the approval of the National Code of Corporate Governance—a reform regarded as crucial for accountability and transparency in both the public and private sectors.

The Vice President, Aare Akunkumi Akinyemi, also commended the Registrar and University Management for their unwavering support, stressing that the partnership between the University and the Alumni Association continues to be a pillar of strength.

In his response, the Registrar, Malam Haruna Aliyu, lauded BUKAA for its dedication and assured that the University would continue to support the Association. He emphasized that alumni remain central to the growth of their alma mater by creating platforms for mentorship, knowledge sharing, and collaboration. He further disclosed that following the AGM, the University will invite BUKAA executives for strategic discussions on strengthening partnerships to move Bayero University forward.

The 2025 AGM is expected to attract a distinguished audience, led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Air Vice Marshal Saddik Isma’ila Kaita (rtd), alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, principal officers of the University, and other eminent personalities. It promises to be a remarkable gathering where alumni can reconnect, celebrate shared memories, and contribute to sustaining the proud legacy and future growth of Bayero University, Kano.
