Prof Tsauni

The Senate of Bayero University, Kano  has recommended Professor Ahmad Muhammad Tsauni, Director of the Bayero University Press, for appointment as the next Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics.

The decision was reached during the 428th Meeting of the University Senate held on Thursday, 2nd October, 2025. The recommendation will be forwarded to the University Governing Council for consideration and approval at its next meeting.

The position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) became vacant following the appointment of Professor Haruna Musa, fsi, as the 12th Vice-Chancellor of the university.

In the same meeting, the Senate also elected Professor Ummu A. Jalingo as the Senate Representative on the University’s Governing Council.

Professor Ahmad Muhammad Tsauni, a renowned economist and academic leader, obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from Bayero University, Kano, where he has served with distinction for over two decades. He began his academic career in 2004 as a Graduate Assistant and rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Economics in 2019.

A versatile scholar, teacher, and policy expert, Professor Tsauni has supervised over ten doctoral candidates, in addition to numerous master’s and undergraduate students. He has also served as an external examiner for postgraduate programmes in several Nigerian universities.

Over the years, he has held several key academic and administrative positions within the university system. These include Level Coordinator (undergraduate and postgraduate programmes), Departmental Examinations Officer, Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Head of the Department of Economics, and later, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Currently serving as the Director of Bayero University Press, Professor Tsauni continues to play an active role in promoting academic publishing and research dissemination. He has also contributed significantly as a member of various departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees, demonstrating his commitment to academic excellence and institutional growth.
