Bayero University, Kano (BUK), on Saturday, 20 December, 2025, hosted the book launch in honour of Honourable Justice Abdu Aboki, JSC (Rtd), CON, titled Compendium of Selected Articles on Cybercrime Law and Digital Evidence with Related Legal Instruments.
The event, held at the CBN Centre of Excellence, brought together a distinguished audience comprising retired and serving justices, Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), Khadis, legal practitioners, academics, Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian universities, members of the Kano business community, and the general public.
In his address as Chief Host, the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Haruna Musa, FSI, described the occasion as a milestone that underscores the University’s commitment to relevant scholarship and its strategic partnership with the Bench and the Bar in addressing emerging legal challenges in the digital age. He noted that the publication of the compendium highlights the growing importance of sustained academic and professional engagement on issues of cybercrime and digital evidence, which have become increasingly critical in today’s rapidly evolving digital environment. Professor Musa further described Justice Abdu Aboki’s distinguished judicial career as a shining example of dedication, integrity, and excellence in public service.
The book reviewer, Professor M. L. Ahmadu, described the publication as a clear demonstration of what foresight, careful planning, and scholarly legal contributions can achieve in honouring a highly distinguished legal personality. He explained that the book, which consists of ten chapters, serves as a valuable reference material on emerging areas of cybercrime law and digital evidence.
Declaring the book formally launched, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, noted that the publication could not have come at a more appropriate time, given the increasing incidence of cybercrime and its damaging effects on critical sectors such as health, education, banking, and society at large. He emphasized the need for concerted efforts by all stakeholders to enforce cybercrime laws and regulations in order to curb the menace. In his vote of thanks, Honourable Justice Abdu Aboki, JSC (Rtd), CON, expressed deep appreciation to the editor and all contributors to the book for their scholarly efforts. He also thanked the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, for hosting the event and expressed gratitude to all participants for their presence and support.
A total sum of over One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (₦150 million) was realized during the book launch, with the Kano State Government emerging as the highest contributor through the purchase of copies valued at One Hundred Million Naira (₦100 million).
