Bayero University, Kano on Monday, 17th January, 2022 received eight teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the accreditation of 9 programmes.
Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, who received the teams along with members of Principal Officers, said the University always welcomes accreditation exercise because it is a peer review process with the aim of helping institutions to strengthen their teaching and learning.
He further explained that the University’s door is open for observations and corrections, saying that it was the best practices to put academic programmes into good perspectives.
Earlier speaking on behalf of the eight teams, Professor Chiedi Mafiana said the teams came on the mandate of the NUC to assist the university to reshape its academic programmes in line with the best practices, assuring that the teams would be transparent and objective in conducting their assignments.
Professor Mafiana commended the University for recording massive transformations, citing Abubakar Rasheed Senate building as one of the clear examples.
The programmes being accredited are: Agriculture, English and Linguistics, Islamic Studies, Applied Biology, Computer Science, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, as well as Theatre and Performing Arts.
