Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Joanma Tarmawaka, has heaped praises and commendation to Bayero University, Kano for standing tall among its peers in terms of promoting the indigenous African languages.
The envoy was showering this commendation on Saturday, 5th February, 2022 during the launching of Hausa-English Bilingual Dictionary, co-authored by Paul Newman and Roxana Ma Newman and published by Bayero University. She said BUK has contributed immensely to the growth and development, as well as intellectual capital of Hausa language which is being spoken widely and served as lingua-franca of West Africa.
According to her, Bayero University has developed mutual and cordial bilateral ties with the Polish University. She particularly singled out the contributions of Professor Nina Pawlak, who spent most part of her career in research, teaching and learning Hausa Language, noting that her legacy would not be in vain because there are some new generation of scholars like Professor Izabela Will, who took over from her.
Ambassador Tarmawaka, who visited Kano for the first time, expressed gratitude over warm reception accorded her and pledged her unwavering determination to facilitate and fast-track academic collaboration between BUK and Polish Universities.
