Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has reinforced its partnership with the Nigerian Navy, focusing on training and security cooperation. Both institutions have agreed to develop strategies for expanding their collaboration into other key areas.
During a courtesy visit on March 27, 2025, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, welcomed the Commandant of the Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Dawakin Tofa, Kano, Rear Admiral Emmanuel C. Anakwe, and his team. Prof. Abbas highlighted BUK’s longstanding relationship with security agencies in Kano and emphasized the potential for deeper collaboration with the Nigerian Navy.
He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to designing specialized short courses aimed at enhancing the capacity of naval officers. Additionally, he assured the Navy of BUK’s readiness to report any security concerns on campus, even though the university currently enjoys a cultism-free environment.
Prof. Abbas also acknowledged BUK’s role in providing manpower and technical expertise during the establishment of the Nigerian Navy Logistics College, underscoring the institution’s dedication to security and defense education.
In response, Rear Admiral Anakwe expressed appreciation for BUK’s support and called for continued collaboration, particularly in intelligence sharing to address security challenges. He requested the university’s assistance with integrated logistics management training, particularly access to a computer laboratory. The Vice-Chancellor obliged, confirming that the university’s newly equipped lab would be allocated for the Navy’s training exercises.
The visit solidified the growing partnership between BUK and the Nigerian Navy, reinforcing their shared commitment to education, security, and capacity building.
