A total of 5,779 graduands were conferred with first degrees as Bayero University, Kano celebrated its 2nd day of the 36th and 37th combined convocation ceremonies for the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 sessions on Tuesday, 8th February, 20223.
Deans of five Faculties, Arts and Islamic Studies, Allied Health Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Dentistry, as well as School of Continuing Education presented their candidates to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas for conferment of the first degrees.
The Vice Chancellor said over the last couple of years, Bayero university has been pursuing vigorously to transform the university from a basically teaching to a research based and transform it from a predominantly Arts/Humanities to Science based, as well as make it an information and communication technology driven institution.
The Vice Chancellor noted that with the university’s recent ranking as the best in Nigeria in terms of international outlook, it would not relent in its determination to improve the visibility of the university on the global scene by consistently being visible on the website as well as publishing research work in reputable journals and engaging in more collaboration with individuals and industries at the international level.
He said as part of the management’s effort to reach out to corporate organizations and individuals for intervention in various aspects of technological and infrastructural development, the Bank of Industry readily accepted to establish a Technology Hub for skills acquisition in BUK with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship amongst the youth.
