SSANU-BUK Commends VC for Appointing Hayat, Altine Ag Directors

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Bayero University, Kano (BUK) branch, has expressed its profound appreciation to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, for his recent appointments and confirmations that underscore his commitment to administrative excellence and institutional growth.
The Union particularly hailed the appointments of Hajiya Halima Hayat and Altine Maryam Ali as Acting Directors, describing the move as a testament to the Vice Chancellor’s dedication to fostering capable leadership within the university.
Speaking during a congratulatory visit to the Vice Chancellor on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, SSANU-BUK Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Aminu, praised the appointments as evidence of Prof. Abbas’s strategic vision and commitment to elevating the administrative standards of BUK.
“These appointments further demonstrate your passion for selecting credible and competent personnel whose contributions will benefit the university community. Your unwavering dedication is reinvigorating our institution’s administrative landscape,” Comrade Aminu stated.
The SSANU Chairman also lauded the Vice Chancellor for confirming the appointments of Malam Shehu Galadima and Aminu Wada Kurawa as substantive Directors of the Directorates of Establishment Matters and Examinations, Admissions, and Records, respectively.
In addition, the Union congratulated Prof. Abbas on his appointment as the Chairman of the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU). Comrade Aminu noted that the recognition was well-deserved, given the Vice Chancellor’s exceptional contributions to the advancement of university education in Nigeria.
“Your visionary leadership has firmly established Bayero University as one of Africa’s premier centers of learning. Your dynamic governance and innovative approach have propelled BUK to greater heights, including its recognition as the best in Nigeria in terms of global visibility and one of the top six universities in the country,” he remarked.
Responding to the Union’s commendation, Professor Abbas reaffirmed the University Management’s dedication to collaborating with SSANU and other unions to sustain and enhance the institution’s standards.
“Non-teaching staff are the custodians of records and the backbone of administration. Their professionalism and ethical conduct are vital to our efforts in achieving best practices and maintaining quality assurance,” the Vice Chancellor said.
He pledged the University’s resolve to retrain non-teaching staff to ensure they continue to meet and exceed administrative standards, further solidifying BUK’s position as a leader in academia.
Prof. Abbas also congratulated Comrade Sabo Balarabe Wudil on his election as Vice President of SSANU’s Northwest Zone, emphasizing that the honor reflects positively on BUK as a whole. He encouraged Wudil to represent the university with distinction.
