Bayero University, Kano (BUK) commenced its 39th Convocation ceremonies on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, with a total of 4,402 graduates from eleven faculties presented for graduation.
The graduates were drawn from the following faculties: Allied Health Sciences (334), Basic Medical Sciences (341), Clinical Sciences (210), Dentistry (30), Arts and Islamic Studies (497), Communication (252), and Education (1,345). Others included Engineering (465), Life Sciences (514), Physical Sciences (375), and Pharmaceutical Sciences (39).
Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the Convocation, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, reaffirmed BUK’s commitment to excellence in education, research, and community service. He highlighted the university’s strategic vision of transitioning from a teaching-focused institution to a research-driven one, shifting from an arts- and humanities-dominated curriculum to a more science-based approach, integrating ICT-driven learning, and aligning with global best practices in higher education.
He also emphasized the university’s efforts to enhance the student experience through various welfare initiatives, skill acquisition programs, and improved campus security.
Addressing the graduates, the Vice-Chancellor said:“To our esteemed graduands, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in your journey. As you step into the world, remember that you are ambassadors of Bayero University, Kano. Uphold the virtues of integrity, excellence, and service, and contribute meaningfully to the development of your communities and our nation.”
Many graduates expressed their joy at being part of the historic convocation and commended the university’s management for creating a conducive learning environment that supported their academic success.
