Bayero University, Kano is in the midst of its vibrant 39th Convocation Ceremony, a multi-day celebration of academic achievement. Today, Thursday, 13th February, 2025 marks the second day of this staggered event, with 4,367 graduands from seven faculties receiving their degrees. This follows yesterday's conferral of degrees upon another 4,402 graduands, bringing the total to an impressive 8,769.

The School of Continuing Education boasts the highest number of graduates today with 2,275, followed by the Faculty of Social Sciences (571), Faculty of Agriculture (369), Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences (357), Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences (286), Faculty of Computing (261), and Faculty of Law (248).

Vice Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas addressed the graduates, emphasizing that this convocation is a moment of pride not only for them but also for their families, friends, and the entire BUK community. He commended their hard work and perseverance, highlighting that their graduation signifies their readiness to contribute meaningfully to society.

Professor Abbas also reiterated BUK's commitment to providing a conducive and enriching learning environment. He underscored the university's efforts to combat cultism and social vices, and emphasized their zero-tolerance policy towards academic malpractice.

The excitement continues tomorrow with a Convocation Lecture on "Innovation and Entrepreneurship: A Pathway to National Development," delivered by Khalil Sulaiman Halilu of NASENI and chaired by the Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.

The grand finale of the convocation ceremony will take place on Saturday, 15th February, 2025 featuring the conferment of postgraduate degrees and the awarding of honorary Doctorate Degrees to Colonel Sani Bello (rtd) and Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano.
