VC BUK Hails Khalifa Isyaka University’s Progress Just 3 Years After Establishment
In just three years since its establishment, Khalifa Isyaka University of Nigeria (KHAIRUN) has recorded remarkable progress and achieved significant milestones in student enrollment, staff development, infrastructural expansion, and academic growth. This was highlighted by the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, during a courtesy visit by the Vice-Chancellor of KHAIRUN, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
Professor Abbas commended the university’s rapid development and attributed its success to the leadership of Professor Garba and the dedicated team of Principal Officers and Directors. He emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in research and staff development. According to him, having a strong management team overseeing various responsibilities is a clear indication that KHAIRUN is on the right path to excellence.
Earlier, Professor Garba stated that the visit aimed to reinforce the existing cordial and mutually beneficial relationship between KHAIRUN and its parent institution, BUK. He expressed gratitude to BUK for its unwavering support and guidance, which have played a pivotal role in KHAIRUN’s growth. He specifically acknowledged the contributions of key individuals at BUK, including the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, Haruna Aliyu, the University Librarian, Dr. Kabiru Dahiru Abbas, and the Head of Public Affairs, Malam Lamara Garba, for their invaluable assistance.
Professor Garba further highlighted KHAIRUN’s impressive growth, noting that the university had expanded from an initial enrollment of 100 students to over 700. He also informed Professor Abbas that the National Universities Commission (NUC) would soon visit KHAIRUN for the revalidation of its certificate, which had expired after three years. He sought BUK’s support in ensuring a smooth revalidation process.
Additionally, Professor Garba congratulated Professor Abbas on the appointment of a new set of Deputy Vice-Chancellors at BUK. He praised the selection process, noting that the appointees were chosen for their competence, experience, and outstanding track records.
The KHAIRUN delegation included the Registrar, University Librarian, Bursar, and Directors of the university, while the BUK team present comprised the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Professor Haruna Musa, Registrar, Haruna Aliyu, University Librarian, Dr. Kabiru Dahiru Abbas, Bursar, Alhaji Rabiu Dauda, Director of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Malam Sheriff Ahmed, Head of Special Duties, Barrister Hadiza Jummai, and Head of Public Affairs, Lamara Garba.
