Distribution of educational materials

In its continued commitment to community development and educational support, the management of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has distributed textbooks, school bags, and other learning materials to pupils from less privileged families in surrounding communities.

The distribution exercise took place on 30th April 2025 at the BUK Staff School, Old Campus.

Beneficiaries included pupils from nearby communities such as Danbare, Rimin Zakara, Rijiyar Zaki, Dorayi Karama, and Dorayi Babba. The initiative is part of the university’s broader efforts to uplift education in its host communities and support families in need.

Speaking at the event, the Principal of BUK Staff School, Old Campus, Imam Uba, expressed gratitude to the university management for its consistent support. “BUK management has always been supportive of our efforts, and this gesture shows its unwavering commitment to improving the lives of underprivileged families through education,” he said.

Uba also revealed that the university is currently rebuilding the administrative block of the Old Campus Staff School, which was recently destroyed by a fire outbreak. According to him, the reconstruction reflects BUK’s dedication not only to academic excellence but also to the welfare and infrastructure of its staff schools.

Parents of the beneficiaries praised the university’s kind gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that would ease the burden on families grappling with educational expenses. One parent remarked, “This support means so much to us. It encourages our children to stay in school and focus on their studies.”

The pupils were visibly excited. Many expressed joy at receiving a complete set of learning materials, noting that the items would make learning more effective and enjoyable.
