Governor of Kano State, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) for organizing a colloquium, conference and book launch in honour of the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Professor Haruna Musa, fsi, to mark his first year in office.

The Governor gave the commendation on Tuesday, 18th August, 2026, during the colloquium held at KHAIRUN with the theme: "Transformative Science and Technology Education for Sustainable National Development."

Represented by the Head of Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota, Governor Yusuf congratulated Professor Haruna Musa on the successful completion of his first year as the 12th Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano. He noted that the Kano State Government is proud of the remarkable achievements recorded by the University within the short period of Prof. Musa's leadership and reaffirmed the state's commitment to strengthening collaboration with BUK in advancing education, research and academic excellence.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of KHAIRUN, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, said the colloquium was organized to commemorate the first anniversary of Professor Haruna Musa's tenure as Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano.

He explained that the event was preceded by an academic conference that brought together experts, scholars, researchers and students to present research findings, deliberate on transformative science and technology education, and examine its role in promoting sustainable national development.

In his response, the celebrant, Professor Haruna Musa, expressed profound appreciation to the Founder, Governing Council, Vice-Chancellor and the entire KHAIRUN community for the honour. He emphasized that he accepted the recognition not as a personal tribute but on behalf of the staff, students and alumni of Bayero University, Kano, and indeed every colleague across the Nigerian university system who continues to teach, conduct research and supervise students despite challenging conditions that would discourage many others.

The ceremony also featured the launch of a book titled "Firm Attributes and Value: A Tobin's Q Analysis of Listed Industrial Goods Companies in Nigeria" authored by Dr Naja'atu Bala Rabiu, the Bursar of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University.
