About the Department

The Department of Arts and Humanities was established in School of Continuing Education (SCE), formerly Centre for Continuing Education and Professional Development (CCEPD) in September, 2011 primarily as a place for all the BUK Sub-degree Programmes transferred from within the Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies. The Department also mandated to organize various professional programmes for the benefit of the immediate community and the Nation in general.

Moreover, the name of (CCEPD) was changed to Institute for Continuing Education (ICE) by the University Senate in its 307 meeting dated 24th November, 2012. Then later the name was also changed to School of Continuing education (SCE) by the University Senate in its 329 meeting on 29th April, 2015. And the function of the School and the Department of Arts and Humanities and all other Departments in the School redefined to mount Part-time Bachelor Degree and operate Open and Distance Learning Programmes vide the 329th BUK Senate Meeting.
