B. AGRIC. (CROP PROTECTION OPTION) ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
a) General Requirements for the Faculty of Agriculture
This is the Faculty’s entry requirements of Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) WAEC/NECO, GCE O’Level credits in relevant subjects (English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Physics) obtained at not more than two sittings.
b) University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Entry Mode To gain admission into 100 level of the five-year B. Agriculture programme, candidates require an acceptable performance in the University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the relevant subjects which include English, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography and Physics. Candidates who successfully complete Remedial programme of Bayero University, Kano may be absorbed into the 100 level if they obtain acceptable grades in Chemistry, Biology and Physics having satisfied the minimum credit requirements of 5 O’ Level relevant credits and the University Tertiary Matriculation Examination requirements.
c) Direct Entry (DE) Requirements Eligibility for direct entry into 200 Level, candidates must have met the matriculation requirements in the relevant subjects plus IJMB/HSC/GCE ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and Biology, National Diploma in Agriculture and related subjects at credit level. M. Sc. CROP PROTECTION ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Candidates for admission into the M.Sc. (Crop Protection) must satisfy the following conditions:
a) Holders of Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Biological Sciences or other related fields from Bayero University, Kano or any other recognized institution must obtain a minimum of Second class lower division with a CGPA of 2.75/5.
b) Candidates with Third Class Honours Degree with a minimum of three years work experience or HND (with a minimum of Upper Credit) in relevant areas with appropriate Postgraduate Diploma of the Bayero University, Kano, or any other recognized institution with a minimum of CGPA of 3.5 or at least Upper Credit in Postgraduate Diploma. Where applicable in (a) or (b) above, candidates with such qualifications may be required to remedy all deficient undergraduate courses as may be recommended by the candidate’s supervisory committee. Evidence of practical post qualification experience in agriculture or related field may be an advantage. In addition, the holders of HND and PGD certificates should satisfy the basic O’ Level entry requirements for admission into Bachelor’s Degree programme.
