M.Sc. (Crop Protection) candidates can specialize in any of the following areas of interest:

DURATION OF B. AGRICULTURE (CROP PROTECTION
OPTION) PROGRAM
• A full time B. Agriculture (Crop Protection option) for UTME candidates shall run for a period of ten semesters inclusive of two-semester field practical year
• Direct entry candidates shall run for a period of eight semesters inclusive of two-year practical year
DURATION OF M. Sc. PROGRAM
• A full-time Master of Science Programme in Crop Protection shall run for a period of four semesters.
• Candidates shall normally complete the course work requirements and develop an acceptable written proposal of
research work in the first two semesters. The remaining two semesters shall be utilized to carry out research and writing up of the dissertation.
B. AGRICULTURE (CROP PROTECTION OPTION)
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
• Candidates must undergo all the courses from 100 to 300 Levels plus 400 Level (Practical year)
• Candidate must register and undergo all the prescribed 500 level Crop Protection Courses plus other relevant/compulsory courses from other Departments
• Candidate must obtain a minimum of 1.50 – 2.39 CGPA (Third Class Honours) on graduation
• Student shall carry out research seminar and project in a relevant area of Crop Protection and submit an acceptable, hardbound Project Books.
M. Sc. CROP PROTECTION GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
The M.Sc. programme shall be partly by prescribed course work with written examinations which shall be externally moderated. It shall involve a Dissertation which will be subjected to oral examination by a panel of examiners, including an external examiner.
• Students are expected to present two research seminars to be assessed using Departmental regulations, one being a research proposal and the other based on the completed dissertation of research work.
• All students shall be required to take approved postgraduate courses. These are courses to be taken by all students offering M.Sc. Crop Protection.
• A student may also be required to take remedial (undergraduate) or other relevant courses where necessary, which may be prescribed by the supervisory committee depending upon the candidate’s deficiency. The courses will carry no credits towards higher degrees.
• A student is required to earn a minimum of 32 credit units from the course work including 6 credit units from the dissertation component. Every candidate for M.Sc. Crop Protection shall earn 32 credits in the course work in order to secure permission to commence writing the dissertation, which carries 6 credit units. A candidate who failed more than one-third of the total course work credits registered for in a session shall be requested to withdraw from the programme.
• Student shall carry out research in a relevant area of Crop Protection and submit an acceptable Dissertation
