"The Department’s aim is to advance the science of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology; train medical and allied healthcare professionals, scientists and researchers which it does principally via dissemination of knowledge through teaching, research and provision of community service. The Department provides a quality and common learning platform at both undergraduate and advanced training for students and teachers in medical (MBBS/BDS), Nursing, Otolaryngology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Allied health sciences including Radiography and other specialized fields. It also involves in the advanced training (M.Sc/PhD, MIPC and other Certificate Programmes) of young Microbiology graduates with specialization in various aspects of Medical Microbiology including Bacteriology, Virology, Mycology, Immunology and Parasitology that will enhance their future prospects providing quality services to humanity. The Department has qualified, well-trained and highly dedicated members of staff who are specialists in every aspects of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology.Consequently, the Department has made several notable achievements and giant strides in its service to the University, community and humanity at large since its establishment during 1986/87 academic session."
