CDA Signs Agreement with Jigawa State to Provide 100,000 Seedlings of Date Palm

The Jigawa State government has signed an agreement with Bayero University, Kano (BUK) for the Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA) to produce 100,000 sex-identified Date Palm seedlings for distribution to farming communities across Jigawa State. The agreement, which was earlier endorsed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, was signed in Dutse on Wednesday March 23, 2022 by the Honourable Commissioner of Agriculture during the opening ceremony of a Policy Workshop on indigenous tree restoration organized by CDA.

The Minister for Higher Education and Research from the Republic of Niger, Mamodu Djibo on Friday, 18th February, 2022 led a powerful delegation from the French speaking country on a courtesy call to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas to seek collaboration between BUK and Nigerien higher institutions on research, staff and  other academic linkage programmes.

The Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA) on Wednesday, 16th February, 2022 organized an Open Day to mark its 10th Year Anniversary. The event was chronicled by the unveiling of an iconic new logo of the Africa Centre of Excellence in dryland agriculture which was performed by the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas and the Director of the Centre, Professor Jibrin Mohamed Jibrin.

The Centre also distributed seeds, seedlings and equipment to farmers from 22 communities

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has expressed concern over the legal processes in Nigeria, saying that without social justice, legal justice is ultimately unattainable.

The Vice President was speaking on Tuesday, 8th February, 2022 in Bayero University, Kano at the 53rd Nigerian Association of Law Teachers’ Annual Conference with the theme: Law, Democracy and Electoral Process.
