Delivering the 55th Professorial Inaugural Lecture of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Mahmoud Ibrahim Daneji has called for the urgent formulation of a comprehensive national legislative framework on agricultural extension and advisory services. He emphasized that such legislation should clearly define the roles and responsibilities of the various stakeholders, including federal, state and local governments, research institutions, farmer-based organizations, financial institutions, NGOs, and the private sector.

Excitement is set to return to Bayero University Kano’s sporting arena as preparations reach top gear for the 18th Interfaculty Games, which promise to be bigger, better, and more competitive. The Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) on Tuesday, 29th July, 2025, visited Bayero University, Kano (BUK) to accredit the clinical courses of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, marking another significant step in the faculty’s academic development.

Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has been selected as one of ten federal universities to benefit from a $38 million ICT Development initiative funded by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) under the Blueprint-ICT-Dev Project of the Federal Government.

The landmark project, officially launched on Tuesday, 1st July 2025, at the National Universities Commission (NUC) headquarters in Abuja, aims to transform Nigeria’s tertiary education system through digital innovation, infrastructure, and the creation of smart campuses.

The Governing Council of Bayero University, Kano has officially appointed Professor Haruna Musa as the institution’s 12th Vice-Chancellor. The announcement was made during a Council meeting held on Thursday, 3rd July 2025, where Prof. Musa was formally presented with his letter of appointment. He will assume office on August 18, 2025, succeeding Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, whose tenure ends later in August after a transformative five-year leadership.
