BUK's Prof Jibrin Takes Over as President Food for West Africa

The Director Center of Excellence for Dryland Agriculture (CDA), Bayero University, Kano, Professor Jibrin Mohammed Jibrin has taken over as the new President of Food for West Africa. He has succeeded Professor Kokou Tona, the Director of Center of Excellence for Poultry Science (CERSA) of Togo.

The election took place at the end of the second general assembly of the network which was held in mixed mode (physical and virtual meeting) on December 1, 2022, at Abuja, Nigeria.

 The Director of the Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA), Professor Jibrin Mohammed Jibrin has been unanimously elected as the President of the Food for West Africa (FOOD4WA) network. FOOD4WA is a network of the agriculture-based Africa Centres of Excellence (ACEs) that brings together seven ACEs from six African countries whose activities focus on agriculture, food security and nutrition.

BUK Postpones Examinations for Thursday 17 November

Bayero University has postponed all examinations slated for Thursday, 17th November, 2022. According to a statement signed by the Secretary, Information and Publication, Bala Garba Abdullahi on behalf of the Registrar, the new development is as a result of planned protest organized by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on 17th November 2022.

The statement added that ASUU has suspended all academic activities on the said date which affect the conduct of the examinations.

Mid-term Review: CDA, ACEPHAP to Get Additional World Bank Funds for Good Performance

The Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA) and the Africa Centre of Excellence in Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) have achieved high scores in the mid-term assessment of the performances of the Africa Centres of Excellence for Development Impact (ACE Impact) project performed by the World Bank. The information was conveyed on Monday, 7th November 2022 by Mr Harry Gerard Crimi Jnr in his presentation during the Nigeria country roundtable between the World Bank, the French Development Agency (AFD), and the 17 Nigerian ACEs.
